I am especially lucky to have found an old time barber named Ed who has been cutting hair for over 50 years. He really knows how to give a proper business cut with a razor sharp side part."
"All I have to say is "keep it old school" and he starts with an incredibly meticulous taper around the sides and back, then he moves to the top. What I love is that he actually undercuts the part leaving the top side nice and long a perfect effect for slicking. But my favorite effect is that he angles the bangs in the direction of the part. Basically, he starts by trimming the length of the bangs about 1 inch above the eye on the opposite side of the part and continues to cut on a downward angle to the other side maintaining most of the original length about two inches past the eye on the side that's parted. This technique not only makes it a cinch to create a razor sharp part, it makes it unconventional to wear your hair any other way!"
"Since I've got such a thing for side parts, I get quite a bit of pleasure from this. Then the finale Ed uses a medium weight pomade to form and lock the style."
"He spends so much time parting and reparting and combing and combing and combing... I get a kick out of some of the expressions on the faces of the guys waiting I know they really enjoy watching. In the end, it's a healthy dab of Brylkreem for shine and a hot lather shave on the neck. Man, I can't wait for my next cut. Ed thinks it's great that a young guy would sport such a clean retro look I think he enjoys the cut as much as I do."
"I went to a local small town barber and told him I was ready for something new. I told him I'd like to go with a tapered look and that I was considering a side part. Something clean and neat."
"The cut was orgasmic. I am maintaining the style to this day and I'm using Brylkreem now. I'm in heaven everyday and I owe it all to SlickVille.
