World War II Cuts
Haircuts in 1943 were inspired by the men over there.
What was before the 50's hairstyles came out? Short and medium military pompadour haircuts!
In 1940s Germany, before the longer-hair pompadours of the 50s, the common haircut of the most men during WWII was a short or medium pompadour. The hair at sides and back was usually very short or totally sheared. The hair on top was long enough to keep it slicked back or parted sometimes to create a wave. The picture below shows a barbershop in 1943. They used mostly hairoil, brilliantine (liquid or stiff) and pomade. One can only imagine the aroma in these shops. It was a slick shiny style with the short tapers above ears and in the neck.
