Manny Salazar moves
to new east end location

Manny Salazar’s Traditional Barbershop offers men an alternative to the hectic atmosphere of the salon and the limited range of haircuts offered by chain shops.

Salazar values old-fashioned barbershop traditions and his clients continue to reap the benefits of a bygone era where quality and comraderie are the hallmark of exceptional service.

Salazar believes that barbers should take their time and not treat customers with indifference or haste.

“Do you want to go to the doctor and be thrown out in 10 minutes?” Salazar asked. “Hair cutting has become a volume-based business, and women’s salons outnumber men’s.” With this in mind, Salazar takes a simple approach with his customers.

One step inside Salazar’s new shop and the clients immediately sense a difference. There is no noisy television or music to distract or annoy. One thing that can be found, however, is lively conversation covering anything from sports to politics. Things that matter to men are the main focus at Manny Salazar’s Traditional Barbershop.

While Salazar shies away from the title of barbershop therapist, he notes that all people seek a connection.

“People want you to remember they are not their job or car, but a person,” said Salazar.

Salazar’s commitment is to the customer’s experience. If a client doesn’t like something about his hair cut, Salazar will correct it even if it’s two or three days later.

“You’ll always get what you want,” said Salazar “Each of my customers is important, I make sure they are always satisfied.”

As a master barber, Salazar specializes in contemporary, traditional and classic hair hairstyles for men and boys.

“I get a lot of requests for traditional haircuts that many stylist, just don’t know how to do anymore, because it involves complicated razor or scissor work.”

One of Salazar’s most sought after specialties is the soothing traditional straight razor shave.

“If you never had a shave, then you don’t know how to relax,” said Salazar.

Each shave begins in a fully reclined chair and starts with a hot towel face wrap to soften the follicles and unwind the client. Next, the face is lathered in warm foam, then Salazar meticulously shaves the face with precise strokes to guarantee the closest shave imaginable.

Salazar says that the process is so relaxing that many who have tried the experience have instantly fallen asleep in his chair.

Since his move, Salazar is excited at the response his new shop has gotten and he anticipates its continued growth.
